EMDR Therapy in San Diego, CA
Some memories don’t stay in the past. They just learned to hide in the present.
You know why you feel the way you do. You’ve talked about it, thought about it, maybe even journaled it out, and your body still reacts like it’s happening now. Maybe it’s the tight chest before a conversation that “shouldn’t” be a big deal, or a voice in your head that sounds a lot like someone who hurt you. Maybe you’re strong, capable, and quietly exhausted. Or maybe you’re a parent watching your teen get stuck on something they can’t put into words.
Here are some reasons you could benefit from EMDR therapy
- You understand what happened, but it still feels heavy
- Your reactions feel bigger than the moment calls for
- Certain places, situations, or tones of voice set you off and you’re not sure why
- You’re hard on yourself and can’t seem to shake it
- You’ve tried talk therapy and want something that works differently
EMDR Therapy in San Diego Can Help
You don’t have to keep carrying this the way you have been. Change is possible, and it doesn’t require you to relive every detail. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps your brain finish processing what it got stuck on, so the memory stays part of your story without running your day.
Benefits of EMDR Therapy
- Feeling calmer, lighter, and more like yourself
- Old triggers losing their grip
- A kinder voice in your head
- Not having to retell the whole story for the work to count
- Support from someone trained to guide the process at a safe pace, which is hard to do on your own
My Approach to EMDR Therapy
You set the pace. We start by building a few grounding tools so you feel steady before we go anywhere heavy, and if you need to pause or skip something, just say so. I offer EMDR virtually, so you can do it from wherever you feel most at ease, in English or Spanish. For teens, parents are welcome to be involved as much or as little as feels right. If you’re curious whether this is a fit, I’d love to talk it through.
